Three months after buying my Ninja Creami, I realized that the machine alone wasn't enough. The two pots supplied were filling up too quickly in my freezer. My protein popsicles lacked creaminess. I had trouble serving in the small containers. In short, I was missing the essential accessories.
Today, after testing about fifteen different accessories (and wasting money on useless stuff), I can tell you exactly what's worth it. Total budget invested: approx. 120€ of accessories over six months. Some are essential, others optional, but they really change the experience.
Please note that I am not sponsored by any brand. My links are affiliated: I get paid if you place an order through them. This is a way of supporting my work, but you are under no obligation to use them.
Things to remember : Additional jars are priority purchase n°1 (25€ per 2-pack). Guar gum transforms protein ice creams for 10€. An adapted ice cream scoop makes serving easier for 13€. The rest depends on your use: hand blender, recipe books, special ingredients. Avoid low-end compatible jars that don't fit together properly.
1. Additional pots: MANDATORY purchase
If you had to buy just one accessory, this would be it. From additional Creami pots are absolutely essential from the very first week of use.
Why it's essential
The machine comes with 2 pots only. It looks like enough when you unpack it. In reality, it's ridiculously inadequate. Each pot needs to freeze 24 hours minimum before blending. Would you like to make vanilla ice cream today? Mango sorbet tomorrow? Coffee ice cream the day after tomorrow? Impossible with 2 pots.
My personal experience: by week 2, I was frustrated. I wanted to try out a new recipe but both my jars already contained preparations. I had to wait another 24 hours. Immediate Amazon order for 4 more jars. Problem solved.
With 6-8 pots total, On Sunday afternoons, you can prepare your weekend ice cream at your leisure. Monday: vanilla ice cream. Tuesday: strawberry sorbet. Wednesday: coffee ice cream. Thursday: mango sorbet. Friday: chocolate ice cream. The whole week covered, stress-free.
Which pots to buy
ATTENTION COMPATIBILITY Ninja Creami pots are not not interchangeable between models. Be sure to check your model before ordering.
For NC300/NC301 (Creami classic) : pots 16 oz (473ml). Compatible references :
- Official Ninja pots (pack of 2): €25-30. My #1 recommendation. Guaranteed quality, perfect fit.
- Third-party pots (pack of 4): €20-25. I've tested QVN, works well but lids slightly less hermetic.
For NC500/NC501 (Creami Deluxe) : pots 24 oz (710ml). Please note: not compatible with NC300!
- Official Ninja pots (pack of 2): €28-32
- Third-party pots (pack of 4): €23-27
For NC700 (Ninja Swirl) : pots Specific swirls with nozzles. Not compatible with other models. Only official pots recommended. However, these pots are highly rated on Amazon, so worth a try.
My personal purchase: I took 2 official Ninja packs (4 jars) + 1 QVN third-party pack (4 jars). Total 8 pots for my NC500. Budget: about €80. Expensive but essential.
Mistakes to avoid
Don't buy the «first price» jars at €15 for 4. on Amazon with zero reviews. I almost got ripped off. Feedback spoke of pots not fitting properly into the bowl, creating leaks during mixing. Disaster.
Check model number before ordering. Sellers sometimes mix up part numbers. I've seen NC300 packs sold as «compatible with all models». Wrong. Read the fine print.
Buy in packs of 4 rather than 2. The unit price is better. Pack of 2 pots = 12-15€/pot. Pack of 4 jars = 5-7€/pot. Substantial savings.
Amazon France prices (January 2025) :
- Official Ninja 16oz jars (pack 2) : 25-30€
- 16oz third-party jars (pack 4) : 20-25€
- Official Ninja jars 24oz (pack 2) : 28-32€
- Third-party jars 24oz (pack 4) : 23-27€
2. Guar gum: the secret of creamy ice cream
Visit guar gum (guar gum is a natural thickener that completely transforms the texture of ice creams, especially protein and low-fat versions.
Why it changes everything
My first protein ice creams were disappointing. Texture ice, crystals, almost grainy. Even with Re-spin. I discovered guar gum via the Creami Facebook groups. I ordered a bag from 10€. Total revelation.
Guar gum drastically reduces ice crystals and creates a creamy texture close to that of real commercial ice cream. Particularly effective on low-fat recipes (protein ice creams, enriched sorbets, diet versions).
A minute quantity enough : 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon (approx. 0.5-1g) per 473ml jar. A 340g sachet lasts literally months. Unbeatable value for money.
How to use it
Add guar gum directly into your liquid base before freezing. Mix vigorously with a whisk or hand blender for at least 30 seconds. The guar gum should be perfectly integrated otherwise you'll get lumps.
My technique: I pour all my ingredients into the jar, add the guar gum and blend for 30 seconds with an immersion blender directly in the jar. No oatmeal, perfect dispersion.
Precise dosing :
- Protein / light ice creams : 1/2 teaspoon (1g)
- Classic high-fat ice creams : 1/4 teaspoon (0.5g) or even zero if already creamy
- Sorbets : 1/4 teaspoon (0,5g)
ATTENTION Do not exceed 1g per jar. Beyond that, the ice cream becomes sticky, almost elastic. I made the mistake once with 2g. Inedible chewing-gum texture. Please respect the dosage.
Guar gum vs xanthan gum
Visit xanthan gum (xanthan gum) is the alternative to guar gum. Same thickening effect. What's the difference?
Visit consensus among Creami users: slightly superior guar gum for ice cream. Guar works best cold, xanthan hot. As Creami ice creams are cold, guar is more suitable.
Personally, I use only guar gum. Slightly more pleasant texture, according to my comparative tests. But honestly, the difference is minimal. If you find xanthan in the store and not guar, get the xanthan. It'll work just as well.
Where to buy :
- Amazon 340g bag Anthony's guar gum or NOW Foods: €9-12
- Organic stores sometimes available in smaller sizes (but more expensive per kilo)
- Pastry websites professional quality
3. Quality ice cream scoop: for easy serving
A good ice cream scoop adapted for small Creami jars makes serving so much easier. Standard spoons are too wide for 473ml containers.
Why invest in a real spoon
I initially used a large tablespoon to serve my ice cream. Total nightmare. Impossible to make clean scoops. Ice cream stuck everywhere. Ugly service.
I ordered the Balci Scooper spoon, very popular on Amazon (4.8 stars, 7000 reviews). Narrow, pointed design perfect for Creami pots. 13€. Radical change.
The scoops come out clean, the ice cream doesn't stick and I can scrape the edges of the pot easily. A small detail that really improves the daily experience.
Important features
Slim design Spoon: not too wide to fit into 473ml jars without forcing. The Balci is about 5cm wide, perfect.
Quality materials Stainless steel or aluminum. Plastic warps when cold. I broke a cheap plastic spoon in 2 weeks.
Slightly pointed tip For digging into hard ice. Round spoons glide over very cold ice.
Dishwashers A must. Cleaning an ice-cream scoop by hand is a pain.
Comfortable handle : prefer thick handle or with grip. Your hands will thank you after 10 uses.
4. Hand blender: for preparing bases
A hand blender (immersion blender) simplifies base preparation enormously, particularly for sorbets and recipes requiring fruit or powder blending.
When it's really useful
For classic ice creams vanilla-chocolate, not really essential. Mixing with a whisk is enough.
But for fruity sorbets, it's almost compulsory. Blending whole strawberries with sugar and lemon? Hand blender. Perfectly blend instant pudding into milk? Hand blender. Dissolve guar gum without lumps? Hand blender.
I use mine 3-4 times a week for my Creami preparations. Totally justified investment.
Which model to choose
You don't need an ultra-powerful €80 hand blender with 15 attachments. A basic 250-300W model at 30-40€ does the job perfectly.
Alternative budget : Bosch or Braun mixers at 25-30€ also do the job. Just avoid first-price products at €15, which heat up and struggle with thick blends.
Mixing technique To start blending: press the blender into the bottom of the Creami jar. Blend for 20-30 seconds, moving up and down. Prevents splashing and ensures a smooth blend.
5. Ninja Creami recipe book: never run out of ideas
Visit cookbooks dedicated to Ninja Creami are full of tried and tested ideas. Useful when you're going round in circles with vanilla-chocolate.
Why buy a book when the Internet exists?
A legitimate question. Thousands of free Creami recipes are available online. Why pay for a book?
Answer: the quality and reliability. Online recipes are often approximate, poorly measured, untested. I missed 3-4 ice creams by following questionable Pinterest recipes. Frustrating and wasteful.
Serious cookbooks have tested recipes multiple times, with precise proportions, results guaranteed. You save time and avoid screw-ups.
Which book to choose
On Amazon, some tens of Creami books exist. Quality varies widely. Here are the best according to my tests and community feedback.
«The Ultimate Ninja Creami Cookbook» by Emily K.: 15€. 99 pages, 100+ varied recipes. Amazon rating: 5 stars out of 230+ reviews. My favorite. Classic + creative recipes (lavender cookie, rum-pineapple, pumpkin gelato). All the recipes I tested (about 15) worked perfectly.
«Ninja Creami Recipe Book for Beginners» : 12€. 120 pages. For beginners, with detailed explanations. Simple, effective recipes. Good for the first few months of use.
Avoid self-published books with zero reviews or less than 3 stars. I bought an 8€ book with 2 stars out of curiosity. Mistake. Ill-balanced recipes, grainy ice creams, approximate dosages.
My advice: invest 15€ in a good book as soon as you buy your Creami. You'll make the most of it by avoiding failures and discovering flavors you'd never have imagined.
6. PB2 (peanut butter powder): for protein ice creams
Visit PB2 (or PBfit) is dehydrated peanut butter powder. It contains 85% less fat than conventional peanut butter, while retaining the taste.
Why it's great for ice cream
Normal peanut butter is too oily and greasy for ice cream. It creates lumps, does not mix well, strange texture.
Visit PB2 powder dissolves perfectly in liquid bases. Intense peanut taste without the oil. Perfect for protein ice cream.
I add 2-3 tablespoons PB2 in my vanilla protein ice creams. Result: creamy texture, pronounced peanut taste, just the right amount of protein. 1.5g lipids compared to 16g with normal peanut butter.
Where to buy and how much it costs
Amazon jar 454g PB2 or PBfit : 12-15€. A jar lasts about 2 months, with 2-3 ice creams a week.
Available versions :
- Original PB2 : just peanuts
- PB2 chocolate peanuts + cocoa (my favorite for ice cream)
- PBfit alternative brand, same concept
Also available in some organic/fitness stores, but generally more expensive than Amazon.
How I use it: I put it in 50% of my protein ice creams. Vanilla-peanut, chocolate-peanut, coffee-peanut. Works with everything. A safe bet.
7. Sugar-free syrups: for easy flavouring
Visit sugar-free syrups such as Torani or DaVinci allow you to flavour your ice creams without extra calories. Huge range of flavours.
Benefits of syrups
Ease of use 2-3 tablespoons syrup + milk + guar gum = flavored ice cream base in 30 seconds. Zero effort.
Infinite variety caramel, vanilla, hazelnut, strawberry, mint, cookie, cheesecake... I counted more than 60 different flavours at Torani.
Zero calories usually sweetened with sucralose. Perfect for diet ice cream.
Long-term storage A bottle lasts for months in the fridge.
My use: I have 5 bottles at home (vanilla, caramel, hazelnut, cookie, mint). I alternate according to my mood. Caramel ice cream on Monday, hazelnut on Wednesday, cookie on Friday.
Where to buy
Amazon Torani or DaVinci 750ml bottle: €8-12 depending on flavor. Vanilla and caramel less expensive (8-9€), exotic flavors more expensive (11-12€).
Specialty coffee shops sometimes available but more expensive.
Attention : make sure it's the correct version «sugar free. Classic syrups with sugar are also available, and are generally less expensive. Easy to go wrong.
My favorite flavors :
- Vanilla (vanilla): versatile, base for everything
- Salted Caramel (salted caramel): addictive
- Hazelnut (hazelnut): perfect with coffee
- Cookie Butter incredible speculoos taste
- Peppermint (mint): refreshing in summer
Budget : 50€ for 5 bottles which last 4-6 months. Excellent value for money, given the number of ice creams produced.
8. Sugar-free instant pudding: an alternative to stabilizers
Visit sugar-free instant pudding (Jell-O type) works as a stabilizer while adding flavor and sweetness. A practical alternative to guar gum.
Why it's interesting
Instant pudding already contains stabilizers (xanthan gum, modified starch) to improve texture. No need to add guar gum separately.
He fragrance and sugar at the same time. One ingredient does three jobs. Convenient for beginners.
Ease of use Add 1-2 tablespoons of pudding powder to your liquid base, mix and freeze. That's all there is to it.
My experience: I use pudding when I make ice cream for my nephews. Fun flavors (cheesecake, banana cream, butterscotch), guaranteed creamy texture, they love it.
Dosage and flavours
Standard dosage 5-10g (1-2 tablespoons) per 473ml jar. The more you use, the sweeter and thicker the ice cream.
Available flavors Jell-O Sugar-Free :
- Vanilla (vanilla)
- Chocolate
- Banana Cream
- Cheesecake
- Pistachio (pistachio)
- White Chocolate
- Butterscotch
Where to buy : Amazon or American stores My American Market type. Price: approx. 3-4€ per box of 28g. One box makes 3-4 ice creams.
Limit Contains artificial ingredients (colourings, flavourings). If you prefer natural products, opt for guar gum + natural extracts.
9. Fairlife protein milk: the perfect base for protein ice creams
Visit Fairlife protein milk (or equivalent) is the ideal base for effortlessly creamy protein ice creams.
Why Fairlife specifically
Fairlife is milk ultrafiltered which contains :
- 50% more protein than normal milk
- 50% less sugar
- 0% lactose (easy digestion)
- Naturally creamier texture
A 350ml bottle Fairlife Core Power (protein shake version) + a little guar gum + freezing = protein ice cream 30g protein in a single jar. Unbeatable.
How I use it: I buy 12-packs of Fairlife Core Power bottles chocolate or vanilla on Amazon. I empty a bottle directly into a Creami jar, add 1/2 teaspoon of guar gum, blend for 30 seconds and freeze. Protein ice cream in 2 minutes.
Where to find Fairlife
Amazon France Available but rather expensive. Pack 12 bottles 325ml : 35-40€.
Costco / large supermarkets : sometimes available, better price but random stock.
Alternatives Muscle Milk, Premier Protein, or any ready-to-drink liquid protein shake works too. Fairlife is just the best known.
Budget : about 3€ per ice cream with Fairlife. Expensive, but justified by the high protein content and zero preparation effort.
10. Protein powder: to create your own protein ice creams
If Fairlife sounds expensive, the protein powder (whey, casein, vegetable) to create low-cost protein ice creams.
How it works
Basic recipe :
- 300ml milk (whole, semi-skimmed or vegetable)
- 30-40g protein powder (1 scoop)
- 1/2 teaspoon guar gum
- Sweetener to taste (optional)
- Vanilla extract or other flavoring (optional)
Blend everything with an immersion blender, freeze for 24 hours, then blend on the Lite Ice Cream program. Result: protein ice cream, approx. 25-30g protein per jar.
Cost per ice : about 1-1,50€ versus €3 with Fairlife. A significant saving if you eat a lot of protein ice cream.
Which powder to choose
Whey isolate (whey protein): dissolves best, smoothest texture. My first choice. Brands: Optimum Nutrition, MyProtein, Scitec.
Casein Thicker texture, naturally. Makes dense ice cream. Some prefer it, but I find it too thick.
Plant protein (pea, rice): for vegans. Texture slightly less smooth than whey, but functional. I tested it with pea protein, and the result was correct.
Flavors Vanilla and chocolate are the most versatile. Cookie and caramel flavors also work, but are sometimes too artificial.
Where to buy : MyProtein, Bulk, Amazon. Price varies: €15-30 per kilo depending on special offers. One kilo makes about 30-35 ice creams.
My setup: 2kg MyProtein vanilla whey bought during the sales at 35€ (i.e. 17.50€/kg). That makes 60-70 protein ice creams. Unbeatable.
Accessories to avoid (I tested it for you)
Some accessories may seem useful, but are actually useless or disappointing. I've tested them to save you money.
Ice cream moulds on a stick
I bought silicone molds for ice cream on a stick at 12€, thinking I'd use my Creami bases to make stick ice-creams.
Result: totally useless. Creami bases require mixing with a Creamerizer to obtain the right texture. Poured into molds and simply frozen, they stay fresh for longer. hard as concrete, inedible.
Save €12, don't buy.
Creami special dosing/measuring device
Seen on Amazon: graduated Creami dispenser at €8 with ingredient markings.
Don't bother. You already have measuring cups at home. No need to buy a specific dispenser marked «Creami». Pure marketing.
Multi-pot freezer tray
Special tray to store several jars in the freezer: 18€.
My opinion: superfluous. I store my Creami jars upright directly in the freezer. No need for a special tray. The jars don't stack well anyway because of their shape.
Save €18.
Improved« replacement covers»
Some vendors offer improved« covers» with reinforced silicone gaskets at €15 for 4.
I tested it. Zero difference with the original lids. Same tightness, same quality. Pure marketing.
If your original lids are broken, buy official Ninja lids, not these things.

Where to buy these accessories at the best price
A short guide to the best platforms by accessory.
Amazon the best choice for 90% accessories. Competitive prices, fast Prime shipping, easy returns. I buy almost everything on Amazon.
Official Ninja website only for official jars when Amazon is out of stock. Sometimes slower delivery.
MyProtein / Bulk for the protein powder. Unbeatable prices during sales (up to -50%). I subscribe to newsletters for coupon codes.
Local fitness stores for testing protein flavors before buying a large pot online.
Creami France Facebook groups The occasional bargain: people sometimes resell little-used accessories. Occasional bargains.
My final verdict: the 3 must-have accessories
If I had to start from scratch on a limited budget, I'd buy these 3 accessories only :
1. Additional pots (4 minimum) : 22-25€. Absolutely essential from week 2. No discussion possible.
2. Guar gum (340g) : 10€. Transforms protein/light ice creams. Unbeatable value for money.
3. Balci ice cream scoop : 13€. Improves daily service. Small price, big comfort impact.
Total cost: €45-50 for a functional and comfortable setup.
The rest (hand blender, books, syrups, powders) are optional, depending on your specific needs. Add them gradually if you use your Creami intensively.
After 6 months and 120 invested in accessories, I don't regret a single purchase (except for the 3 useless things I tested for you). My ice creams are better, my routine smoother, my creative possibilities endless.
